Homework Policies
Students will receive approximately 50 minutes of homework every night. (50 minutes meeting the curriculum guideline). We do not usually assign homework on Fridays and over the weekend.
Homework needs to be completed in full the following day or on the assignment due date. Students WILL NOT be allowed to call home for forgotten homework. A card will be turned for homework that is not in on time. If a missed assignment is not turned in after 3 days, they will not receive credit for the assignment. (3 or more missing homework assignments per quarter will result in an “n” grade on their report card.)
In the event your child is absent, homework assignments are logged everyday in the classroom planner and placed in an absent file. Upon their return to school it is their responsibility to check the class homework log for work they have missed. They will have the amount of time they were absent to complete makeup work. For example, if they are out for one day, they will have one day to complete missing work. If it is not completed by this time it will count as a missing assignment.
Each child has been issued his or her own student planner. These will go home with your child every day. With these planners you child will keep track of his or her homework assignments, projects, important dates to remember, and much more. IT IS YOUR CHILD’S RESPONSIBILITY TO USE THIS PLANNER DAILY. Check your children’s planner daily at home. This is exceedingly important to help your child stay organized! We usually have students put time-sensitive notices in their homework folder, so be sure to check for these.
Absences
Attendance is crucial! Our academic curriculums are quite challenging and being absent makes it very difficult for your child to catch up. Please make every attempt to send your child to school daily!
When your child is absent:
o Call the school in the morning to request work. The work can be picked up in the afternoon or sent home with a friend.
o A note must accompany your child on his/her return to school, even if you have informed the office.
